Lights For Life Christmas Light Recycling Program

The Lights for Life program will start within our stores November 25th (Thanksgiving weekend) and run through January 3rd, 2014. Drop off boxes will be at all store locations for your unwanted broken Christmas lights—put them to good use for the Light for Life program

About Lights For Life

Lights for LifeWe here at Lights for Life are dedicated to making the lives of children with cancer and their families a little easier. We are setting out to accomplish this through the recycling of old holiday string lights. Over 200 million strings of lights are sold each year in the United States and all of them eventually end up in our landfills.

Lights for Life, Inc. is asking you NOT to throw away your old and broken lights this year. If we can collect just a small percentage of these light strings, it will go a long way in helping those families of children with Cancer.

The light strands are sold to recyclers for the copper they contain. The funds received from the sale of these commodities is used to provide financial assistance to the families of children with cancer along with sponsoring kids camps.

Lights for LifeAs we grow into a national movement we will be able to help fund childhood cancer reseach to help find a cure. In addition to the environmental benefits of keeping this valuable resource out of our landfills, recycling the copper will also reduce the need for open pit Copper mining.

Its a win/win situation! Help us keep our future green and provide urgently needed assistance to families struggling every day to survive.

The beautiful pottery of Puebla, Mexico is a traditional, tin-enameled earthenware pottery, known as Talavera. The pottery itself is still made with the same basic traditional process that was used in the 16th century; but has a new modern twist that adds a lot of life and style into this unique pottery. The modern styles have transformed the traditional process by adding in new shapes and elaborate colorful motifs. This world-renowned hand-painted pottery comes in various forms, including both functional and decorative items such as plates, serving dishes, vases and tiles. Look for these at the Raymond and Aberdeen stores!
