Winner of our Clark & Kensington Photo Contest

The winning photo was submitted to us by  Keith and Tracey.Tracey told us she was feeling brave and decided to paint her kitchen with black ACE paint she purchased in our Raymond store. It was a risk but we think it tuned out great!

We had to share the photo of this sweet room with you  submitted by Jessica Norton.Sara told us she  painted her daughter’s room earlier this month  and used Ace Premium paint in Raspberry Parfait and Pretty in Pink. We think it is a perfect room for a little princess and it looks like the cat approves too.

Bathroom Mold and Mildew Solutions

Want to give your bathroom a new look without dishing out loads of cash?  While you’re deciding on your decor and selecting a paint color, why not think about preventing one of the most common bathroom problems — mold & mildew growth. Cleaning can remove mold & mildew, but the trick to controlling it is to prevent it before it starts. Follow these steps from the mold & mildew prevention experts at Zinsser:

  • Keep airflow constant.
  • The combination of hot showers in small spaces creates an ideal environment for the growth of mold & mildew.
  • Consider installing an exhaust fan or ceiling fan to improve ventilation in your bathroom. They can increase airflow and significantly slow the growth of mold & mildew.

What if installing a fan isn’t in your budget?

  • Leaving your bathroom window slightly open when you shower can also help airflow.
  • Eliminate moisture. Stagnant water produces moisture in the air and creates an ideal environment for the growth of mold & mildew.
  • Limit excessive moisture by using a dehumidifier and by wiping down shower walls after each use.
  • Clean infected areas.
  • Use mold & mildew-proof paint.

By using these steps — and following a regular cleaning schedule — you will enjoy a mold & mildew-free bathroom for years to come! For more prevention tips, visit www.zinsser.com.

Paint Like a Pro for a Look that Lasts

Prime before you paint to keep your paint job looking great for years.

One of the easiest home improvement projects — one that will add the most value to your home for the least amount of money — is painting. It’s easy to keep your paint job looking great so it continues to add value to your home for years to come, just do what professional painters do: use one coat of primer and one coat of paint instead of two coats of paint. Here’s why:

  • Primers hide previous colors — even the darkest blues and deepest reds — far better than paint alone and prevent them from showing through or changing the color of the topcoat. They’ll make your new color look more vibrant and even. Here’s a little secret: By tinting your primer towards your paint color, you’ll use less paint — plus get all the benefits of priming.
  • Primers work hard to block stains. If you try to cover a stain with a fresh coat of paint, the stain will probably bleed through — no matter how many coats of paint you apply. Quality primers seal in stains and prevent them from ruining your paint job.
  • Primers prevent common paint problems. Because primers are formulated to prevent problems like cracking, peeling and blistering, they’ll make any painted surface more durable, washable — and last much longer!
  • Primers provide a sound base for paint. Paint is formulated to provide rich, beautiful color — but don’t expect it to do a primer’s job. High quality primers are rich in resin and provide a firm base for paint to adhere. Primers like Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3(R) even stick to glossy, hard-to-paint surfaces without sanding, so you can paint paneling, cabinets, glossy paints, vinyl siding and more.
